Hey there! I'm an Australian-based iOS developer focused on making visually and conceptually interesting apps. I primarily work on my own independent projects but can occasionally be found working on something neat as part of a great team.
Interested in hiring me for a short-term contract? If so, here's a few projects I can talk about to give you an idea of what I do.
A ground-up rewrite of my earlier time management app, rebuilt with modern technologies (Swift replacing ObjC, Metal replacing OpenGL) and a subscription business model. Released in September 2021.
Built from idea to release in 90 days to scratch a “video editing app” itch. Design-wise it focuses on direct manipulation and avoiding modals. Technically, this project was a deep dive into video APIs and GPU-based image manipulation.
What if an iPhone app could make time-lapse road-trip movies automatically? After solving video capture, thermal management, gyro/acc math, real-time image stabilisation and rolling shutter correction ... GoPro added HyperSmooth. Can't win them all.
Lead iOS developer in a large multi-disciplinary team. Together we prototyped, built, launched, refined and supported a complex app for a household name. Wearable tech, design driven development, agile, hack-a-thons. Good times!
Frustrated by the absence of an iOS app for making routines, I built one. Its novel OpenGL-based “ribbon” time-visualisation UI earned it a spot in Apple's “best productivity apps 2011” awards. Over many updates I added an iPad UI, sync, infinite scrolling and more.
